Our client is the parent company to several the UK’s major health and well-being brands. It is the client’s aim to take these brands further across the UK, and potentially abroad, both through direct management and franchising. The business has a diverse shareholder base including private equity houses and family office entities The Board have just completed a further and successful fund-raise which provides the basis for the next wave of growth. As part of their strategic growth plan, they are now looking to hire a Finance Director to take them to the next level.
The New Finance Director:
The new Finance Director will almost certainly be ACA qualified and have commenced their career in a top ten accountancy practice. They will have then worked in industry in a senior finance line role, ideally as a Finance Director.
In terms of professional expertise, they will need to understand and have had exposure to M&A and private equity backed businesses. There are a number of sectors that the successful candidate could have come from but importantly the new appointee must be comfortable working in an investor driven SME and be able to take the necessary pressures of such a situation.
In addition, the new Finance Director will be a competent financial manager, into the detail, but also comfortable reporting to a CEO and investors from a commercial point of view, not just a numbers viewpoint. The successful candidate will have had @10-15 years minimum experience.
The Finance Director will run a small and compact finance team and will be expected to deliver high calibre reporting, be investor facing and be comfortable at Board level
The position will be integral to the development of the client’s business and will attract a good salary, a discretionary bonus and relevant incentives. The new appointee will report to the CEO.
