Our Procurement & Supply Chain team look at what the sector experienced towards the end of 2016 and share their views on the recruitment landscape for 2017 so far.

We achieved fantastic results towards the end of 2016 working with existing clients, but also with a number of new organisations who trusted PSD to help them source the best executives in the market.

In Q4, we continued to support a global bank's search for Vice Presidents in the vendor management area. This was a major initiative for them and the objective was to get the best from their key outsource partnerships. At PSD, we pride ourselves on being specialists in all aspects of the procurement and supply management sector, and therefore we were able to identify three individuals suitably qualified to manage the bank's partnerships with major technology partners.

The post-contract area was particularly buoyant for PSD during 2016, as we worked with numerous organisations who wanted to extract value from existing supplier relationships. PSD have also supported two major life and pension organisations in this area and we look forward to assisting other clients with assignments like these throughout 2017.

PSD enjoyed working with a large global insurance brokerage to recruit two category leads in a new procurement organisation. We worked with a CPO, who we have supported throughout the years, and identified two individuals to lead in the professional services and technology areas. Instrumental in delivering on the 2017 objectives, the feedback so far is that both are performing extremely well. We expect further hires into the organisation and we are certainly looking forward to continuing the partnership.

In other areas, we recruited a Head of Procurement for a global asset management firm. This individual will work across all categories and their appointment will mark a shift in strategy for the procurement department. We identified a very experienced individual and carefully guided him through the process. It was a successful partnership and a good example of the care and attention that we give to our clients. We also worked to a very specific brief with a life and pensions firm, helping them to recruit a Head of Professional Services. We stepped up to the challenge and recruited a high performing executive from a major banking organisation.

The FM and Construction market experienced a busy first half of 2016 but slowed down immediately following the outcome of the Brexit vote. However, PSD had success in placing two Supply Chain Managers with different major providers, and a senior Professional Services Category Manager with a highly regarded International FM company.

In the consulting area, we supported a client with whom we have a long-standing relationship. After successfully recruiting a Director and Senior Manager in Q1 of 2016, we added two further hires at manager level in the Procurement, Transformation and Supply chain areas. The consultancy continues to flourish under the leadership of the Senior Director who we placed in 2015. This is further evidence of PSD working in partnership with our clients -one of PSD's core values. Further openings with this client are expected throughout 2017, and PSD are looking forward to supporting them in earnest.
