The arrival of a new PSD InFocus always provides me with a welcome opportunity to thank our many clients and candidates around the world for their continued commitment and support. We appreciate your trust and confidence in us and we hugely value the partnerships that we have built with you over the years.
I am pleased to report that PSD continues to go from strength to strength winning and successfully completing some of the most important hiring projects in our specialist markets. Our reputation for outstanding recruitment services continues to grow and our International reach enabled us to complete assignments in 77 different countries during the last few years.
This edition kicks off with an interesting piece by Andrew Coppel CBE, a renowned captain of the Hospitality sector. Andrew talks about his time as Chairman and subsequently CEO of the De Vere Group and the challenges of building and crystallising value for stakeholders.
Shifting focus to the UK property industry, Joanna Embling who became the first female equity partner at Cushman & Wakefield talks about one of the industries hot topics, the housing shortage and rise of the Private Rented sector. According to Savills, 24% of all households will be in the Private Rented sector by 2019 and investor interest in this market is huge.
Cindy Irvine has established an impressive reputation working with leadership teams of major organisations around the globe. She talks here about the crucial task of building trust in the workplace. Understanding, respect and trust are essential ingredients for creating an environment in which feedback can be given and received openly. Without this there can be little effective learning and development at individual, team or corporate level.
The 'PSD Interview' in this edition is with Peter Kelly MD of Virgin Media. Peter talks frankly about the challenges facing his business today, some of the pivotal points in his career and the advice he would offer to other business leaders in similar positions.
Leigh Hine, a lead member of PSD's Sports Practice reports on our involvement in a recent government event aimed at encouraging greater diversity on Sports Boards. Gender diversity is still a huge topic for all organisations and Leigh offers some advice to both organisations seeking board members and to women looking to join boards in the Sports sector.
