The Arabian Travel Market, Middle East’s largest travel trade event, celebrated its 25th year at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

ATM NetworkingPSD's Hospitality and Leisure Managing Director Lesley Reynolds, Stephen Banks Associate Director and Marc Fletcher Principal Consultant attended the event, which is the leading global event for the Middle East's inbound and outbound travel industry.

The exhibition attracted tens of thousands of visitors, and was a fantastic opportunity to network, negotiate and discover the latest industry research, innovations and trends. It was a hub of activity and had a very positive feel, with in-depth insight into the current climate of the travel industry in various Middle Eastern destinations.

A positive highlight was Egypt, which is enjoying continued strong growth as a result of the current stable socio-economic climate. 2018 is looking highly likely to surpass the good results reported in the hospitality sector in 2017. It is exciting to see the recovery of the tourism sector to this wonderful country.  In Dubai, the lifestyle budget sector is a fast expanding niche with Rove, Dusit's D2 and Zabeel House all catching headlines.

Arabian Travel Market ExhibitionAlso recognized was the continued diplomatic crisis with Qatar, which continues to hurt UAE, Saudi and Bahrain Hotels.  Dubai hoteliers reported how hard they are working to replace the Qatar business with visitors from Russia and China but overall occupancy levels are down as a result.  Despite the lack of business from Qatar to the neighbouring countries, within Qatar and Doha specifically growth continues apace with 10% growth planned over the next 3 years in hospitality.  There are 20,000 hotel rooms and apartments currently under construction.

It was a fantastic exhibition and we are grateful to have made connections with whom we have already conducted new business with. Thank you to the Arabian Travel Market for an engaging and worthwhile event, and we look forward to next year.
