Supporting Access Sport in September, members of our London office spent a fantastic day at the BMX tracks in Hammersmith and at the Lordship Recreational Ground, Tottenham.

BMX Track WorkOur London office arranged a team of volunteers to help with the manual labour.  The army of PSD volunteers set about to defeat the invasion of weeds and undergrowth that the BMX parks experience, with the goal to make them usable again. Although the work was tough, as it was a very hot day, our volunteers found it extremely rewarding to see the instant improvements to the area. Many of the team also took up the chance to relive their youth and take to the track for a few laps.

BMX Old timersEveryone worked extremely hard, working on track repairs - saving a lot of time and money for the clubs, volunteers and community. It was evident how giving just one day of volunteering could make a significant difference to the up keep of the track. A few of our volunteers gave us their impression of the day:

Andrew Hallam: “The work was truly back breaking yet very rewarding as you could easily see the improvement to the area. Great fun for all involved.”

BMX Volunteers 1Spencer Buttle: “I found the project really worthwhile as the local children have an area that they love to use, which would not be there if it wasn't for Access Sport.”

Abdul Roble: “It was a thoroughly tiring and rewarding day! The main thing which came out of the day was the enjoyment of giving something back and knowing that you've helped make life a little better for a few good kids.”
