development & career opportunities
We are a recognised Investor in
People and were awarded the Fast Track Award in 1996 for being the fastest
company in London to achieve the Standard. As a result of our reassessment in
July 2014, we were awarded the prestigious Gold status.
We aim to
ensure that training and development is ongoing for all staff from induction
throughout their whole career at PSD. Structured career paths, well developed
performance management systems and a supportive management style are designed
to help everybody at PSD realise their full potential. Regular reviews and
appraisals and a culture of giving and receiving feedback creates a
challenging and open environment in which everybody is committed to ongoing
During our last re-assessment for Investors
in People, the assessors made this comment:
"People feel that the
learning and development strategy of PSD is consistent and complimentary to
the desire to give a structured journey for employees to progress through the
organisation. There is an effective opportunity for consultants to choose
between become a sector specialist high billing Directors or to pursue the
route of people management to develop their career. This approach helps
maintain a performance-focused culture with which to maintain people's sense
of achievement, whilst offering variety and opportunity that best matches the
strengths and aspirations of the individual"
Career progression &
Consulting staff can progress from Resourcer or
Consultant to Senior Consultant and then on to Principal Consultant. From
Principal Consultant staff may elect to pursue a management career progressing
to Associate Director, then on to Director and ultimately to Managing

Over the last 10 years PSD has been
extremely proud of its success in developing the management teams who are
leading and directing the Group. Most of our managers have progressed up

Banking and Pensions & Investments - London
For me, it is all about
the people I work with at PSD from my peers to all of my teams and the wider
business. Quality of what we do and strive to achieve is second to none, and
this is core to all of the fee earning staff to our fantastic support teams,
from secretarial, HR, IT and Finance. As a woman in business with two young
children, I have had a very meaningful career so far, based on working in a
very supportive environment that recognises and rewards your efforts and
success. The business encourages staff to think / take ownership of their
business and rewards success in many different ways, from quarterly awards,
based on values, best business referral, best executive award to celebrating

What separates PSD from other recruiters is that they
treat their employees as individuals. Everyone's talents are recognised and
valued and what you bring to the team is welcomed and celebrated. I appreciate
the open and transparent culture here. Targets and expectations are clearly
defined and communication and moreover, I feel supported to achieve them.
Also, achieving and exceeding various targets is recognised and rewarded in a
personal manner which really makes a difference and is a great motivator.
Tom Vardigans - Consultant - Sales & Marketing Hotels - London
I joined PSD as a graduate with no prior recruitment experience, I found the
support and training from within the business very useful. It is great how the
company recognise your strengths as an individual and help you improve your
areas for development through ongoing mentoring and training, giving you the
best opportunity to be successful in your role. You are supported in reaching
your targets through one-to-one appraisals each month and are incentivised
both as a team and an individual. I feel that my experience at PSD has given
a great grounding in the recruitment world and I will continue to flourish
with their guidance and motivation.
People - Gold Status
Following its reassessment in July 2014, PSD was
awarded the Gold status. Since achieving the Investors in People standard in
March 1996, we have been continuously recognised by the assessors as an
"exemplar organisation where employees feel connected to the values, vision
and objectives of the business".
Our elevation this year to Gold
status is an achievement that we are very proud of and one that we believe
demonstrates to our clients real commitment to excellence and continuous
improvement. The recent assessment noted that "PSD develops long term
partnerships with its clients, provides high quality feedback and communicates
a compelling vision which generates enthusiasm and commitment to the group",
all essential components of an effective recruitment service.
ISO 9001 provides a strong framework for quality
control and continuous business improvement. This standard is evidence of the
quality and consistency of our service, which means that clients will receive
consistent levels of service across all divisions.
All employees within
the company are jointly responsible for implementing the procedures of the
quality system and individually responsible for the quality of service
provided to our clients and candidates. They are also responsible for
encouraging teamwork and good communications through the company to ensure
that PSD's objectives are achieved.
Payroll Giving Award -
In 2014, PSD was awarded the Payroll Giving Platinum Award by
the Charities Aid Foundation in recognition of our support for our chosen
charities, Kids Company in London, Cash For Kids in Manchester and Chestnut
Tree House in Haywards Heath.
Getting involved in the business
Staff have the opportunity to get more involved in the business by taking
on additional responsibilities. This provides a platform for further personal
growth and development as well as enriching their role in the Group. Examples
of opportunities available are sector head, values champion, trainer,
publishing and editing the company newspaper (Informer), as well as getting
involved in the many business development initiatives and projects which are
carried out across the Group.
